I cannot wrap my head around the fact that Thanksgiving is tomorrow. November has flown by more so than any other month this year. It's like I blinked and here Thanksgiving was. This month has been pretty crazy for me with being under the weather for a week and also just feeling more busy than usual. But I've gotta say, Thanksgiving kicks off my favorite time of year so I couldn’t be happier. As hectic and busy as the next month will be, I kind of love it. I've got to admit, I'm one to already have my Christmas tree up by now and Christmas music has been playing since Halloween was over so I usually do not give Thanksgiving all the love it deserves. But it's my goal to slow down for the next few days and really celebrate all that I’ve been thankful for this past year. So I'm putting together a list (and encourage you to do the same) so we can focus and celebrate thankfulness all week long.
Personal Growth: You know how day to day it can feel like you are making no progress? Like you are going through the motions of every day life and it feels like nothing has changed? Well I've got to say, I can feel like this a lot. But when I take a step back to a year ago and look at where I am now, growth has happened. It has happened in the form of learning new lessons, experiencing new experiences, and finding a therapist (quick plug for therapy- it's amazing & worth it no matter who you are). I shared a quote about growth on my instagram a week ago that says, "through summer highs and autumn lows, through 'holding ons' and 'letting go's,' in her heart she deeply knows, all of this is a part of how she will grow. Remember that!
Girl gang: As I've said so many times before, the past year has been a hot mess for me personally and my friends truly deserve a medal. They picked me up when I've felt so low, made me laugh at all the right moments, encouraged me to do better and are always there no matter what. It feels like a real sisterhood. This is also the year I've taken the most girl trips. Weekends to Chicago, my Denver trip and celebrating galentines in Door County were some of the highlights. So many memories made this past year. If you ever want to hear me sing 'Lucky' by Britney Spears literally all you have to do is ask and I'll do it. No alcohol needed. My galentines can back that up. I also have to say there is nothing I love more than girls night in as well. I seriously have the best friends. And this past year has brought out the best in all of those friendships.
Family Strength: This year wasn't only challenging for me. It was also pretty challenging for the rest of my family. When it rains it pours, right? So many different things happened this year within each of our lives. But what is most amazing to me is that no matter what, we've dropped everything and been there for each other when one of us needed it. My parents made so many late night drives to Milwaukee to be there through the chaos of my sisters and my life. They love unconditionally which is why I am able to be so open with them and also with myself. It's like a safety net. My parents provide support & advice but maybe most importantly they trust us. Forever thankful for that.
THIS: Starting a blog was a huge leap of faith. And also a super vulnerable moment for me. It's been a few months and I've never looked back. I'm thankful for the support I've received from family, friends & people I haven't spoken to in years. I'm constantly amazed that people are reading my thoughts and relating to how I am feeling. I'm also thankful for connecting with so many amazing women all across social media who provide endless support & advice. Constant gratitude.
Wishing you all a happy Thanksgiving & I hope you are able to reflect on all you are thankful for.
