I cannot believe Thanksgiving is tomorrow. For me,Thanksgiving means an extra long weekend, a lot of amazing food, and of course shopping. The core of what we are celebrating at Thanksgiving kind of gets lost in the lead up. It’s always a countdown to having a few days off of work and planning out what desserts I’m going to make this year. I’m sure some of you are with me when I say I don’t actively think about what I am thankful for leading up to this holiday.
This year, I’ve tried to shift my attention and focus on what is most important. I’ve also tried really hard to have a heart of gratitude in this season and really focus on that leading up to Thanksgiving. For the last week or so, I’ve started every morning by listing out 5 things I am most thankful for that day. They were as simple as thankful that Blue let me sleep in until 7am or as deep as a prayer that I felt was answered. Thanksgiving has challenged me to start this routine but it’s something I want to keep doing go forward.
For me, the best part of Thanksgiving is all the family time. I’m grateful that I live so close to my parents and get to spend an extra long weekend with them. So if I had to pick, that is my favorite part about this holiday. But I wanted to share several other nuggets that I’m thankful for this year in hopes that it inspires you to do the same. So take some time, think about the good things in your life, and acknowledge them throughout this week.
